Thank you for your support of the New Mexico Chronic Disease Prevention Council (CDPC)!

Your Gift Really Makes a Difference!

Your gift, no matter the size, contributes to the New Mexico Chronic Disease Prevention Council’s (CDPC) mission. Formed in 1997, CDPC is a multidisciplinary body of experts seeking to reduce chronic disease in New Mexico. Through quarterly meetings, the Council creates a forum for collaboration and communication to break down disease specific silos and focus on prevention and control issues for chronic diseases, including arthritis, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and diseases related to obesity and tobacco use.

CDPC is responsible for the facilitation of the New Mexico Shared Strategic Plan (NMSSP) created by a statewide leadership team in 2010. The NMSSP combines state-level chronic disease specific plans, identifying common risk factors, promoting multi-level prevention and management strategies, and aiming to improve health at both the individual and community level. CDPC and the application of the NMSSP will result in a more coordinated, concerted effort that taps into the skills, talents, and experience of a diversity of organizations.

There are so many ways that you can personally make a difference. To those of you who already support us, we want you to know how much we appreciate you.

Whether it is through support of the Operations or Programs Fund, a planned gift, a gift of In-Kind, or an individual cash gift, your involvement shows a powerful commitment to working together to reduce the burden of chronic disease on individuals, organizations, communities, and systems in New Mexico.

Individual giving opportunities:

Unrestricted Donations, Operations or Specific Program: General donations given on a one-time basis, or weekly, monthly, or yearly intervals.

In Memory/Honor: In the spirit of true generosity, many donors establish gifts to honor a loved one, or special someone. These unique gifts not only provide essential support to the New Mexico Chronic Disease Prevention Council (CDPC), but very importantly, ensure the honorees’ legacy will endure forever at CDPC. The honor/memory of that person will live on in our organization through your gift and our efforts to provide support to our many programs.  Provide the information with your contribution and we will send you a receipt with an acknowledgement card to the person(s) of your choice.

Pledges/Matching Gifts:  Some employers have matching gift programs – for every donated employee dollar – the employer will match the donation. Contact your employer for more information.

Endowed Gifts: Give the gift of higher education or to the future of New Mexico Chronic Disease Prevention Council (CDPC). Endowed funds are permanent funds, critical to the future of CDPC. These funds use your investment to support a purpose of your choosing, bearing the donor’s name to perpetually celebrate your commitment and support of CDPC. An endowed gift can be established with a minimum of $10,000.

Planned Gifts: Planned giving allows you to make a generous gift to the New Mexico Chronic Disease Prevention Council (CDPC), arrange for lifetime income for yourself or a beneficiary, and accrue significant tax benefits

Stocks/Securities: Long-term appreciated stocks and securities are almost always an excellent way to provide financial support. Gifts of stock or securities can be used to support the annual fund, or in establishing an endowed gift, or planned giving arrangements, while at the same time providing a double benefit to you – a current income tax deduction and avoidance of capital gains taxes.

Gift of Life Insurance: Often times supporters no longer need their life insurance that was purchased years ago to provide for family members who no longer are in need of that assurance.

Pooled Income Fund: Your gift of money, marketable securities, or a combination of, may be invested together to create a named endowment fund or planned gift.

Charitable Lead Trust: Individuals with large estates may use a charitable lead trust to benefit New Mexico Chronic Disease Prevention Council (CDPC) and pass the principal to family members with little or no tax penalty.

Gifts of Retirement Plans: Your IRA assets may be transferred to a charitable lead trust providing life income to the beneficiary, leading to an eventual gift to the New Mexico Chronic Disease Prevention Council (CDPC).
